I have looked at a lot of indigenous cultures as well.... and everyone of them had incredibly fit AND attractive human beings until they were introduced to the western diet and lifestyle. The Indigenous Americans are also a prime example of superb health. <br />P.S. I HIGHLY recommend you read the book The Plant Paradox by Dr. Steven Gundry (look into his research and videos). He is probably the most knowledgeable person on this planet on nutrition (IMO). His philosophy is that LECTINS a long with the 7 DEADLY DISRUPTORS (Which include antibiotics, blue light, NSAIDS, etc) cause 99% of disease. <br /><br /><br />Essentially stay away from ALL GRAINS AND NIGHTSHADES and eat tons of leafy greens/herbs, FISH HIGH IN DHA/EPA (sardines, anchovies, mackerel, etc) and "healthy" fats such as avocados, olive oil, coconut oil, GHEE, sesame oil, palm oil, and grass fed finished dairy (AS WELL AS A2 CASEIN DAIRY). STAY AWAY from A1 Casein dairy as it contains tons of lectins. Certain nuts such as macadamia nuts, chestnuts, hazelnuts, walnuts (in moderation), pecans, pistachios are fine. PEANUTS AND CASHEWS are NOT nuts but Legums... and thus stay away from them. <br /><br />He has youtube videos up as well as a website (dr.gundry.com) and his own company (gundrymd.com). <br /><br /><br />Another person to look at his Jeff Volek and Stephen Phinney (on the benefits of nutritional ketosis). <br /><br />I can go on and on... but I am running out of time. For instance, you can start small and for a month try to limit your refined sugar intake to 25 grams each day and also walk 2-3 miles every day. Then, for the next month, try to cook at least one meal at home using real foods while also making sure to get at least eight hours of quality sleep each night. For the next month, hire a personal trainer or try an exercise program like P90X.
